Small Groups

So what is the difference between Sunday school and small group ministry? The answer is rather simple. Sunday school classes may be small, medium-sized, or large groups, and are designed to help students gain and apply knowledge in a classroom setting. ENCOUNTER™ Curriculum is designed to be Sunday school curriculum, giving the teacher a wide variety of tools for Bible teaching.

While a Sunday school may be a small group, small group ministry also includes gatherings in less formal settings. These small groups are typically more intimate and relational and focus more heavily on Bible application than does the typical Sunday school. We believe both are important and should build upon one another. For small group student ministry, we have created eNCOUNTER Downloads for Small Groups.

What is eNCOUNTER?

eNCOUNTER allows the user of ENCOUNTER™ Curriculum to have a coordinated small group ministry without additional cost! For small group ministry, give each student a copy of ENCOUNTER—The Magazine. Then use our free leader’s guide download to lead your group using an article from our student magazine.

It’s great for leaders because it offers guidance for meaningful group discussion within the framework of a solid scope and sequence. It’s great for students because they will be so excited to read the magazine, they won’t even realize they’re systematically studying the Bible!

Please Note: To use these free magazine supplements, you will need the weekly magazine. If you don’t already have one, visit the Shop page to purchase a subscription.
